WA-Cop — Built For Cops, By Cops

Offences, powers and definitions. In your pocket. With no signal.

WA-Cop™ puts Western Australian offences, police powers, legal definitions, drug schedules and step-by-step guides on your phone — and keeps them there, so it works in a dead spot, in a basement, or with your data turned off.

Why offline matters

It does not need a tower

Everything is stored on the phone the first time you sign in. After that the offences, powers, definitions and guides never need the network — which is the point, because the places you most need to check a power are rarely the places with five bars.

It opens straight away

No loading, no spinner, no waiting for a page. You are looking at the offence while a website is still connecting.

Sign in once

One email, one six-digit code, and that is the last you will hear of it. WA-Cop does not ask you to sign in again, and it never checks with a server before opening.

Ask WA-Cop

Ask a question in your own words and get a short answer drawn from the same Western Australian legislation and guides — with the passages it used shown underneath, so you can check it.

Your words, the Act's sections

Ask in plain words and it finds the provisions that answer it, even when the Act uses different words. Every point in the answer is tied to a numbered passage you can open, with a link to the official source.

A starting point, not an authority

Ask WA-Cop uses AI. It can be wrong, or miss the section that matters. Read the passages, and never act on the summary alone. It is not legal advice. It does not hold the WA Police Manual.

The one part that needs a signal

Unlike the rest of WA-Cop, Ask has to reach the internet to answer. Ask is for signed-in members only. Each member has thirty questions a month. It is in the app — tap Ask WA‑Cop.

What happens to your question is set out under Privacy, below.

Getting it on your phone

  1. Open app.wacop.com.au in Safari on an iPhone, or Chrome on an Android. Not inside Facebook or Messenger — if you tapped a link there, open it in your phone's own browser first. WA-Cop will tell you how.
  2. Android: sign in with your email address. We email you a six-digit code — type it in, and you're in. Then tap Install WA-Cop on the home page.
  3. iPhone: put it on your home screen first — tap Share (on newer iPhones it is in the ⋯ menu), then Add to Home Screen. Then open WA-Cop from the new icon and sign in there.
  4. Wait for the green bar that says it is ready offline. That is the whole library downloading. After that the library works with no signal at all.

No code after a minute? Check your junk or spam folder — it comes from no-reply@send.wacop.com.au.

Install it somewhere with normal internet

WA-Cop is a new website, and work networks and work devices often block new websites until they are specifically allowed. Install it on a personal phone, over home Wi‑Fi or mobile data, and sign in once. From then on the library works everywhere, including with no signal, because nothing more needs to be downloaded.

Ask WA-Cop is the exception. It has to reach the internet every time you use it, so it will not work on any network that blocks WA-Cop.

What it is, and what it is not

What it is

  • A reference tool built by a serving police officer, in his own time, and owned by OZ-COP PTY. LTD.
  • A plain-language summary of each offence and power, with the source section reproduced; each definition in the Act's own words; and a link to the official version.
  • Publicly available material — Western Australian legislation — reorganised so it can be found on a phone in seconds, with guides written from it.

What it is not

  • Not a WA Police Force product. It is not endorsed by, affiliated with or operated by the WA Police Force.
  • It holds no WA Police Force data. No restricted material, no internal systems, no operational information, and not the WA Police Manual.
  • Not legal advice. Every entry carries a link to the official source, and the official source governs.

Privacy

What is stored

Your email address, the date your account was created, the dates you used the app, and which version of the Terms of Use you agreed to and when. That is the entire record of you — unless you use Ask WA-Cop or leave a review.

Your email address is used to send your sign-in code and to tell you about the app. Those emails are sent through Resend, an email delivery service. Your address is not sold or shared, and is passed to no one other than the service that delivers the email.

If you leave a review, the star rating, your words and the name you choose to show (or "Verified member") are stored and, once checked, shown on this page — never with your email address.

What you search for never leaves your phone

Searching Legislation and Guides runs against the copy stored on your own device. The text you type is not sent anywhere and cannot be read by anyone — including whoever runs WA-Cop.

So you can go back to them, your phone keeps your last ten searches and the last ten things you opened on each of the Legislation and Guides pages, for 30 days. They stay on the phone and nowhere else, and you can clear them at any time.

This is not a policy choice that could quietly change: there is nowhere for that text to go, because the search happens on the phone and not on a server.

Ask WA-Cop is different

Ask WA-Cop answers questions using AI, so your question has to be sent away to be answered — it cannot happen on the phone. It is sent to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude AI service, which is based in the United States, so your question leaves Australia.

WA-Cop does not keep the question or the answer. Neither is stored on WA-Cop's server, or against your email address or your account. WA-Cop only counts how many questions you ask each month (the number, nothing else).

Anthropic deletes them within 30 days (longer only if a question is flagged under its usage policy) and does not use them to train its AI.

Your phone also keeps your own last ten questions and their answers for 30 days, so you can reopen them without asking again. That copy is on your phone only, and you can clear it at any time.

Because a question can name people, the app asks you not to type names, addresses or incident numbers into Ask WA-Cop.

Where the content comes from

Every offence, power, definition and drug schedule entry in WA-Cop carries its own source, the consolidation and date it was taken from, and a link to the official version. Each Guide entry names the Act section or document it came from, with a link. Nothing is paraphrased from memory.
